Learn how to be grounded, to become friends with yourself, to manage and handle what is outside of you and, lastly, how to connect with a High Source or Power.
Traditionally, it has always been a Priest, Rabbi, Minister or Pastoral Counselor who provided spiritual counseling to an individual or the family. Today, you are beginning to find other professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and mental health counselors who now include spiritual counseling into their practice. The Mind, Body, Spirit model of looking at and including all aspects of a person is the currently accepted norm.
I encourage an individual to have their physical health checked out by their physician. I also check with the individual regarding their nutritional intake and exercise habits.
Next are the spiritual aspects of the individual. We are affected by our feelings and their effect on our body. I always include in my sessions the following questions, "What is your Spiritual belief?" and "How do you connect and receive strength from a Higher Source?" I teach the individual ways of reconnecting with a Higher Source.
My skill is to listen, be non-judgmental, and provide options of how to connect or reconnect with your Mind, Body and Spirit in a healthier way. From my viewpoint, there is no one right way to believe. All belief systems lead to the same Higher Source. I guide individuals to find their own belief system and source of truth of what is Spiritually right and good for them.
I work from a Mind, Body, Spirit modality. Some individuals who come to see me may be in therapy. They may be on psychiatric medications and want to taper off. Other individuals had been in therapy but want something more than what they received. Others may still believe in an organized religious belief. Others come from an organized belief system but decided to stop practicing or believing.
Others feel disconnected from a higher belief system or want to be reconnected but don't know how. They are not satisfied in the old organized ways. Others may be what are called atheists who do not believe in an afterlife or spirituality. Others may believe in reincarnation looking how to become enlightened. Others may be spiritual but having difficulty living their life in this lifetime. Others may be connected with the "spirit world" and don't know what to do with it or are overwhelmed by this connection.
There are many reasons why individuals come to see me for guidance in the area of spiritual counseling.
Life is an ongoing Journey of finding out and exploring. If you decide to come to see me, my focus will be to help you learn how to be grounded, to become friends with yourself, to manage and handle what is outside of you and lastly, how to connect with a High Source or Power.
